Over the past week, residents at the Chateaux at Aurora Park have been questioning their homeowners association about plans that surfaced to trap and kill rabbits in the complex.
Most neighbors we spoke with said there are a lot of rabbits in the neighborhood that really don?t cause any problems. In spite of this, the HOA board decided to contract with an elimination company to try to do away with the pesky critters.
Now, after the Humane Society of the United States made some comments about why trapping and killing will not reduce the population of rabbits, the complex has sent residents a letter which states:
?Regarding the rabbit issue? The Board has suspended action to address the rabbit population within the community. The board of directors is reviewing the matter with additional third-party experts and with homeowners within the community. No traps have been set.?
Residents were upset about the trapping plan, but even more upset that the association didn?t let them have any say in the situation. For now, the rabbits are free to roam though the townhomes without fear of elimination.
